Concord Fire Department Response - Facts & Figures:

Over the past several  years, our average response times have remained  consistent:

2005 2004 2003 2002 2001 2000
4.52 min 4.54 min 4.56 min 4.5 min 4.5 min 4.56 min

Comparison of day vs. night time response shows little variation.  Night may allow a better response to a recall of manpower, as off duty members living in the Township may be available for response.  Presently, our auto aid agreements with Painesville City and Painesville Township provide a response of 12-16 people to each structure fire.

Concord Township Fire Department responded to 1802 calls in 2005.  Over the past 10 years, our call volume has increased:

  1995 1996 1997 1998 1999 2000 2001 2002 2003 2004
# of Calls 1091 1421 1321 1340 1463 1354 1480 1446 1502 1578

In 1995, the department had 5 people on duty/shift.  Today, 8 firefighters are on duty 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.  Our department is considered a combination department, with staffing being a mix of full and part time firefighters.  In 1995, we had 2 full time and 3 part time firefighters covering the station.  Today, we have 5 full time and 4 part time firefighters on duty 24/7.

Concord Township's Insurance Services Organization "ISO" rating improved to a "4" during our 2001 ISO evaluation.  ISO grades a department in 3 different areas, Communications, Water Supplies and Fire Department, in it's evaluation of a communities ability to suppress fires.  Numerous insurance companies use the ISO rating as a factor when calculating insurance risk and resultant premiums.

For Concord Township to further improve it's ISO rating, it would be necessary to build 2 additional fire stations, add a ladder truck and 2 additional engines to it's fleet and add 8 more responders per shift.  Concord Township's present rating of "4" is a good rating - held by only 6.5% of fire departments in the USA.
