2006 Flood Response
Through the directives of the Ohi Emergency Response Plan, as developed by the Ohio Fire Chiefs' Association, 71 fire departments from 11 Ohio Counties provided assistance to Concord, Grand River, Fairport, Leroy, Madison, Painesville City, Perry and Painesville Twp Fire Departments in Eastern Lake County on 27-28 July, 2006. Equipment provided included 33 boats, 22 EMS units, 8 Engines, 7 Technical Vehicles, 3 heavy rescue vehicles; 236 personnel were involved and provided services including urban search and rescue, swift water rescue, assessment of roadways, communications, emergency medical services, evacuations, resident assistance and operations/command. Thanks are to be extended to the countless residents and business owners who jumped in to support the responders while they were at a rescue scene or while staging on Crile Road awaiting assignment. Coffee, meals, restroom facilities, use of office facilities and assistance with communication were all provided to the responders. It is hoped the Response Plan and the assistance from such a large number of Ohio Departments will never again be needed in Lake County. The cooperation, determination and dedication exhibited 27-28 July by all the responders is to be commended. |
